Is it a canal boat? Yes! Is it a terrace? Yes, Terrasje Speciaal is Groningen's first floating terrace. This is a very special way of combining the experience of a canal cruise on Groningen's waterways with the atmosphere and conviviality of eating and drinking on a terrace. So Terrasje Speciaal is not a classic canal cruise with a guide going through the history of Groningen in three languages. But it is one of the city's cosiest terraces that also sails - or did we mention that already? When the sun shines, our 'convertible roof' opens, of course, and if there's a shower, you just sit nice and dry.
Just like a canal boat, we work with fixed departure times and a fixed location where you can board: very convenient. In addition, be prepared for fun events: from dancing to hits to bingo on water.

Good to know
Step aboard Terrasje Speciaal. Every whole hour you can board and immediately enjoy a unique experience on the water. You will find us on the canal opposite the central station. Order drinks at the bar and pay easily on the spot or from your table. Whether it is sunny or raining, thanks to our automatic "convertible roof" you will always be sitting comfortably with your friends.

Terrace sails from Groningen Central Station. Every hour you can get on or off and
immediately enjoy this unique experience.

Terrasje Speciaal has an automatic convertible roof, so you can fully enjoy the water in both rain and sunshine!
Food and drink
Our boat is equipped with a full bar with summer beers, fresh wines and delicious hot (veg) snacks to make the drinks complete.

With Terrasje Speciaal, no canal is too narrow and no patio chair too wide. Well, an ocean cruise may not be in the cards, but for a cosy trip on Groningen's waterways, you've come to the right place. Our sailing terrace boat can accommodate up to 78 thirsty and sun-worshipping people, so it's a cosy affair!
Although the seats are set up nice and cosy, they are fortunately equipped with comfortable cushions, so you can still take a normal seat on the mainland after a few hours of sailing. And while you enjoy the sunshine, our crew will serve you the best drinks - right on board! Yes, we know: a terrace ashore can't match that.
Whether you want to sail with your friends, colleagues or the in-laws (yep, even they can come along), Terrasje Speciaal is guaranteed to make you laugh, squeal and drink. And when the sun goes down, our atmospheric lights come on and the party becomes complete.
